Belagavi-Bengaluru Flight Cancellation: MP Jagadish Shettar Seeks Urgent Action from IndiGo and Government
Belagavi: In a significant development for air travel in Karnataka, Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar met with Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu in New Delhi to address the impending cancellation of IndiGo Airlines’ daily morning flight between Belagavi and Bengaluru, effective October 27, 2024. The flight, which has been operating at an impressive 82% capacity, serves as a vital connection for many passengers in the region, and its discontinuation is expected to cause considerable inconvenience, Shettar said in a social media post.
Shettar expressed his concerns during the meeting, emphasizing the importance of maintaining this crucial service for the local community. “I requested the minister to ensure that this service continues, and he assured me that he would instruct IndiGo officials to take appropriate action,” Shettar noted in a tweet following their discussion.
In addition to advocating for the retention of the Belagavi-Bengaluru route, Shettar highlighted the need for expanding flight services from Belagavi to other major cities, including Pune, Chennai, Kochi, Lucknow, Mysuru, Surat, and Mumbai. He also called for an increase in Airbus flights to Bengaluru to accommodate growing passenger demand.
Another significant request made during the meeting was for the extension of the UDAN 3.0 scheme for an additional 10 years, which would ensure Belagavi Airport’s inclusion in future aviation developments. This extension is crucial for enhancing air connectivity and promoting regional development, he said.
